“BUD” WARNKE – HEAD COACH

Coach Warnke has a total of 39 years of coaching, with 27 of these at Amphi High. A graduate of Grand Canyon University and the U of A, he started coaching at Willcox High, moved to Pueblo in 1974, and then Amphi in 1981. With records of 26-10-2 at Willcox as Head JV and 37-22-1 as Pueblo’s Head JV (four years) and Freshman (three years), he continued his winning record at Amphi to a total record of 174-65-3. Coach Warnke is an extremely valuable asset to the Amphi program, with an outstanding record of success with the younger athletes. In 2005 he was inducted into the Amphi Athletic Hall of Fame. He states, “Offering our youth direction, discipline, character, and role-modeling is so needed in our society today.” It is what he enjoys most about coaching at AHS.

BOB JIMENEZ – ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Jimenez has been a member of the Amphi staff for eight years; he was on Freshman coaching staff until 2004 and moved to the JV staff in 2005. He attended Pima College and the U of A. His chosen field has been Law Enforcement. “Touching kids lives in a forum that allows me to help at-risk kids,” is why Bob enjoys coaching.

MARTY ROTH – ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Roth teaches at Amphi High and along with his football coaching, is head freshman basketball coach. Marty graduated from the University of Arizona College of Education in 2008. When asked for his comments about why he enjoys coaching, he responded: “Watching young adults buy into their coaches and teammates and set their selfish ambitions aside for the good of the team.”

GARY SALAS – ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Salas joins the JV staff this year with 13 years experience, having coached football in three schools prior. He states that football has played an important role in his life and wishes to thank both Coach Friedli and Coach Warnke for the opportunity to share his experience with those willing to learn. Coach Salas has been a teacher at AHS for the past 9 years.
